About
Emil Holmström has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble keyboard player throughout Europe, the Americas, Japan, and Australia. He appears frequently at Finnish music festivals and concert series and has been a featured soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. An ardent champion of new music, Holmström is a member Finnish groups defunensemble, the Uusinta Ensemble, and the Tristero Piano Trio, and plays as a regular guest with the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra. He has worked as a recording artist for Alba Records and the Finnish Broadcasting Company, and made numerous world premiere recordings. He runs the Ristiveto Collective, which specializes in performing late 19th-century music on period instruments.

Duo Maalismaa-Holmström's recording of the Schumann violin sonatas received the Emma Award for Best Classical Album of 2019. You can listen to it on Spotify or purchase it from Alba Records.
The album Brahms: The Cello Sonatas with cellist Markus Hohti was released by Alba Records in February 2020.
The album Immediate Music 2 with Olavi Louhivuori and Joonas Ahonen was released by Svart Records in December 2019.
